CP 575

identifier

The IRS letter confirming your EIN assignment, sent once when the EIN is first issued. It contains the exact legal name as registered with the IRS — the authoritative source for Form 5472 intake.

Why it matters

The CP 575 is the source of truth for the legal name associated with your EIN. When BorderFile validates intake we check two things against it:

  1. The legal name you type matches the CP 575 character-for-character.
  2. The EIN you type matches the CP 575 digits.

A mismatch here is one of the most common reasons for an IRS rejection downstream.

What if I lost it?

Request a 147C letter — the IRS re-issues the same information under a different letter code. You cannot be re-issued a CP 575.
