How to get one

Call the IRS Business and Specialty Tax Line, verify your identity, and request a 147C. The IRS mails or faxes it; non-US callers typically request fax delivery.

Hours: Mon–Fri, 7am–7pm local time. The IRS line is 1-800-829-4933 for US-based callers and +1-267-941-1099 for international callers. The IRS does update these numbers from time to time; always confirm from the current IRS Form SS-4 instructions before calling.

Why BorderFile accepts it

Both CP 575 (original) and 147C (replacement) carry the IRS’s authoritative version of your legal name and EIN. We accept either during intake.
